I only watch five TV shows anymore: 24, Battlestar Galactica, 30 Rock, Studio 60 and Top Chef. If you care about food at all, go find torrents and watch the old episodes. It's everything reality TV should be (except Padma, who really is a fine host but just doesn't really know food enough) and very little that it shouldn't. And Bourdain is spot-on in his assessments.

I've been trying to read about it online, but I don't get it. Guys and girls just pair off each week and live together in the greatest hotel ever? How did they choose who got kicked off and who stayed?

It was really weird. The guys and girls would pair off for a certain amount of time, and then they would all be in the big group, and either the girls or the guys would be sitting in chairs. Then the opposite sex has to pick who they want to be partnered with. (Sort of like picking teams for sports) Anyways, lots of crazy people were on this show, and it was all drama drama drama.

It was certainly implied with the whole one bed in each room thing. But I think only some people were sleeping together, and others were just in it to try and win the money.

Actually I think it was really similar to Temptation Island. Just no preexisting relationships. It was just one of those things that you find horrible to watch, but yet I couldn't seem to not watch. Maybe because I tell myself I wouldn't whore it up on national tv for a quarter of a million dollars.

What is that Deep Thought quote from? It seems like I should know it, but I can't put my finger on it.

I don't think I would be on there even if I was watching 24/7. Something strikes me as weird how they're all willing to accept random bedmates. I need to become a whore then I can go be on one of those shows. Hmmm.

Maybe it's the other way around. Whatever happens on the reality show, you'll have the excuse, "hey, I was on TV!" so why not totally go crazy, because something like this is a free pass to do whatever you want?

Last week's 30 Rock (funniest show on TV hands down) did a really funny thing with infomercials. Tracy Mogran's character's doctor's name is Dr. Spaceman, but it's pronounced spuh-CHEH-men by everyone except Tracy (who pronounces it like it's spelled), which leads to this hilarious scene where Tracy's selling something on an infomercial and he says something like "And it's healthy! Isn't that right, Dr. Spaceman?"

I think you had to be there though.

I think I might have seen that one. Was it the one with that crazy meat griller thing that was burning everyone? You're right, it is one of the funniest shows on tv. I love the random SNL people that pop up from time to time as well.

Yeah, that was the one. And I agree about the random SNL people - I think originally Rachel Dratch was supposed to play Jane Krakowski's character. I don't know what happened, but it seemed to work out okay because now she has every other freaking bit part on the show and that's hilarious.

I think I read somewhere that Rachel didn't test well. Or maybe it was something like the head people didn't think she was pretty enough for the role, because Jane's character is supposed to be one of those actresses. Rachel Dratch is incredibly talented at those crazy off the all things, so it worked out fantastic.
